The project
The expansion of the Portuguese continental platform beyond 200 nautical miles is a strategic project for Portugal regarding its wide international projection and also by creating new potential opportunities for economic and environmental wealth as an important legacy for future generations.
The Virtual Reality System of the Continental Platform Extension (SRV-EPC) has multiple components as follows: an interactive document, an HD movie and a virtual visit to the Atlantic Ocean. The system promotes the mission and objectives of EMEPC as well as the operational reinforcement and all the new opportunities it represents.
Project promotion at the Sea Museum
The SRV-EPC was presented to the general public on July 8th of 2009, at the opening of several new exhibits at the Sea Museum – King D. Carlos in Cascais.
The event was attended by about 80 guests, including PhD. Manuel Pinto de Abreu, responsible for EMEPC, an invitation of Cascais’ Mayor, Dr. António d’Orey Capucho
What is SRV-EPC?
The Virtual Reality System promotes the expansion project of the Continental Platform by publishing an innovative interactive system on a multimedia kiosk and the web, and is composed by:
- Interactive document that show project information;
- An HD movie about the mission and objectives of EMEPC.
- Virtual reality application that allow us to navigate over and under the Atlantic Ocean.
The project was a result of the collaboration of Caixa d’Imagens, Caixa Digital and ZPX.
