What is 3D Cascais?
The Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais is a located in Portugal and extends from the area of Sintra to the beaches of Guincho and Cabo da Roca. Its beaches, dunes, cliffs and primitive forest are invaluable natural resources.
The project Cascais-3D resulted from collaboration between the Municipality of Cascais, Cascais Natura, Siquant and ZPX with the objective of promoting and publicizing the historical and natural heritage covered by the natural park, through an interactive virtual reality application distributed at kiosks multimedia and on the Internet.
ZPX has collaborated on SIQuant’s eXciting Trails initiative, particularly in the “3D-Cascais”, which consisted in developing a virtual reality system about the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, with emphasis on navigation and virtual interaction in nature tourism spots, games and other fun activities. My assessment of ZPX’s participation in this project is very positive for its technical capabilities that allowed to overcome numerous difficulties that arose during the project’s production, but also for its excellent team work, very open and always willing to integrate new features that were being considered during the project’s development acting under an agile approach.

It was a pleasure to worth with the ZPX team in such an innovative project as 3D Cascais. Since the very beginning it was noticeable ZPX’s commitment into developing the best possible product, adapting it to our needs and interests, even when they were not explicitly detailed in the initial contract, making sure the experience to the end user was ever neglected. It is also worth mentioning the speed to solve unforeseen problems by ZPX and the constant articulation in the relationship created with Cascais Natura which, in our opinion, was of main importance for the high quality of the final product.
